Tour de France opens in Leeds

Scarborough is an inch closer in its call to play host to the Tour de France since race executives travel to the area. The sun was gleaming as Yorkshire’s tourism executives gave a short tour of the region to senior officials this week.

As well as central meetings in the city of Leeds the visitants were dealt to a helicopter tour to watch everything that this place has to provide. Yorkshire is calling for to arrange the Grand Depart, which is the first level of this race, in the year 2016.

It is expected that the proposed road would begin in Leeds city before catching the Dales as well as the North York Moors with Scarborough.

If this bid turned to be productive, the landmarks of Scarborough would be on the show to a TV audience worldwide and it is anticipated that thousands of visitants would come in to the town for this mega event. Gary Verity, the chief executive of the tourism board told that they enjoyed their time in the county and saw many of the great assets it has to offer, including its biggest asset, the Yorkshire people. The great county appeared splendid, the sun has shone and the tourism board has given them a real taste of the landscape, landmarks and passion they can expect to be behind their bid.

Yorkshire faces tough competition to arrange the opening level of the race along with a joint bid revealed earlier by Event Scotland, British Cycling and UK Sport. Top cyclists like Ben Swift and Mark Cavendish have both lent their support.
